Rye was created with a simple idea in mind: to celebrate the food, traditions, and hospitality of the Midwest and share them in a way that feels both familiar and thoughtfully elevated. Founded by husband-and-wife team Colby and Megan Garrelts, Rye brings chef-driven comfort food to the table through time-honored recipes, seasonal ingredients, and a deep respect for the people and stories behind every dish. Inspired by family gatherings, Sunday suppers, and the rich culinary heritage of America's heartland, Rye honors the flavors guests know and love while elevating them with thoughtful technique and exceptional ingredients.
Since opening its first location in 2012, Rye has become a beloved staple of the Kansas City dining scene, known for its warm hospitality, award-winning pies, and menu of classic dishes done right. Every experience is rooted in connection to place, to tradition, and to the people gathered around the table.
